Viagra & Other Enhancements

This post is also available in: 简体中文 (Chinese (Simplified)) ไทย (Thai) 한국어 (Korean)

This resource has outlined the most common interactions and side effects for Viagra. However, many sexual enhancement medications have interactions with other medications and medical conditions and have various side effects. If you are thinking about taking Viagra or any other sexual enhancement medication (such as Cialis, Levitras and Kamagra to name a few), it is highly recommended that you visit your doctor and discuss any potential interactions and side effects before taking enhancers.

Viagra

Viagra is used to treat erectile dysfunction. It increases blood flow to the penis by relaxing the muscles in the blood vessels. Viagra does not cause an erection on its own; it needs to be accompanied with sexual stimulation. Additionally, Viagra is not a cure for erectile dysfunction and does not increase arousal. It is recommended to take Viagra 30 minutes to an hour before planned sexual activity and it is not recommended you take it more than once a day.

You can buy Viagra online. However, when buying medication online, you need to make sure it is from a reputable online pharmacy or a pharmacy that requires you to have a prescription to ensure the medication you are buying is not counterfeit.

If you do choose to take Viagra, follow the instruction on your prescription precisely.

Side Effects

Viagra should not be taken with other sexual enhancers or erectile dysfunction medications. Drinking alcohol may also bring on side effects. Viagra has many side effects. The most common side effects include:

  • Flushed skin
  • Headache
  • Upset stomach and diarrhoea
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Abnormal vision, such as blurred vision and changes in colour vision
  • Aches and pains in muscles
  • Rash
  • Blocked or runny nose
  • Back pain

On rare occasions, Viagra can cause a painful erection or a prolonged erection (an erection that lasts longer than 4 hours). Prolonged erections can be dangerous and you should go to your emergency department immediately. Additionally, in rare circumstances, heart attack, stroke, irregular heartbeat and death have happened. If you are experiencing any side effects from Viagra, it is advisable that you seek medical attention.

Interactions to other drugs

Viagra should not be taken with:

  • Other sexual enhancers and erectile dysfunction medications such as Cialis and Levitra
  • Revatio
  • Adempas
  • Blood pressure medications
  • Nitrates and nitrites in any form, including amyl nitrate or amyl nitrite (also known as poppers)
  • Antifungal and antibiotic medications

Signs of Allergic Reaction

  • Hives
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat

This is an incomplete list. If you are thinking about taking Viagra, please see your doctor first.

Other Enhancers

There are many other sexual enhancers available such as Cialis, Levitra and Kamagra. Some of these enhancers have the same active ingredient as Viagra. Others contain similar active ingredients and work in a similar way. Erectile dysfunction enhancers often have many side effects and interactions with medications and medical conditions. See your doctor before consuming these medications.
